01 The ask

A plain question in. A brief with its sources out.

02 The machine

A Node.js Actor on Apify running a six-stage Claude pipeline across news, RSS, Reddit and X. Metered by the Store, pay per event. Anyone can run it.

03 How it runs

  1. How News Intelligence Agent runs, step by step:
  2. Question to Plan
  3. Plan to Discover
  4. Discover to Extract
  5. Extract to Analyse
  6. Analyse to Synthesise
  7. Synthesise to Brief
  8. Extract to Source health (a guard)
  9. Synthesise to Fallback (a guard)
  10. Fallback to Brief (a guard)

04 Under the hood

  1. Six stages: plan, discover, extract, analyse, synthesise, deliver.
  2. Every record lists the health of each source. allSourcesAnswered is the one flag to alert on.
  3. One honest retry per call on a transient failure, none on a permission error.
  4. If the final report fails twice, it still delivers a degraded brief and says why.
  5. Runs with limited permissions and peaks under 100 MB. Version 0.4.18.
